reports investigators have “identified seven key risk factors that help explain the relationship between educational attainment and type 2 diabetes [T2D] risk” after studying data on some 7,462 German adults ages 50 to 75. The seven risk factors are body-mass index, “alcohol consumption, hypertension, triglycerides, HDL cholesterol, physical activity, and smoking.” Taken together, “these seven factors explained 32% of the relationship between education and type 2 diabetes risk,” the study revealed. The findings were published online in BMJ Open.
