reports researchers have found that there may be a “genetic predisposition for obesity and smoking,” according to a Mendelian randomization study published in BMJ. The study “found a 1-standard deviation increase in genetic score for higher BMI resulted in increased odds of ever being a smoker (OR 1.18, 95% CI 1.13-1.23, P<0.001).”
