High-Dose Vitamin D Supplementation May Provide No Benefit For Maintaining Bone Quality In Healthy Older Adults Without Osteoporosis
“Vitamin D might not be much help for strengthening bones among healthy adults without osteoporosis...even at doses far higher than recommended daily allowances,” research indicated.
Clinical Endocrinology News (8/27, Worcester) reports that in a three-year, “randomized clinical trial,” investigators observed “a negative dose-response relationship” instead of “a hypothesized increase in volumetric bone mineral density (BMD) with doses well above the recommended dietary allowance.” The findings of the 311-patient study were published in JAMA. https://www.medpagetoday.com/endocrinology/osteoporosis/81832
