Fewer Americans Consuming Sugary Beverages, Study Indicates.
The New York Times (11/14, Bakalar, Subscription Publication) reports fewer Americans are drinking sugary beverages, according to a study published in the journal Obesity. Researchers found “60.7 percent of children and 50 percent of adults drank a sugary beverage on any given day in 2014, down from 79.7 percent of children and 61.5 percent of adults in 2003.” The piece said investigators found the decline “was driven by a reduction in the number of people drinking sugar-sweetened beverages, and lower consumption among those who did still drink them.”
