California Health Officials Issue Warning After Nurse Tests Positive For Tuberculosis. Also, 350 infants may have been exposed to tuberculosis
reported that California officials have issued a warning after a nurse in San Jose tested positive for tuberculosis, potentially exposing 350 newborn babies as well as “368 mothers, and 338 hospital employees, who came into contact with that nurse between September and November.” While “TB was once considered eradicated in the United States,” Janet Shamlian reported on NBC Nightly News (12/12, story 5, 2:05, Diaz-Balart), “rates in Santa Clara County are the fourth highest among all districts in California and nearly three times the national average.” 350 infants may have been exposed to tuberculosis at California hospital
